Cyprus Health Centre (CHC) is the first and largest hospital in Cyprus. It provides affordable specialist care for patients, training for doctors and other healthcare professionals, and conducts research to bring better care to its patients.
CHC sees patients referred by Family Physicians as well as specialists in both public and private practice. The hospital provides a comprehensive range of medical services within one complex. There are 5 National Specialist Centres co-located on CHC Campus, facilitating a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment. CHC practises team-based care, provided by clinicians, nurses as well as allied health professionals.
Every year, the CHC Campus caters to over 350 thousand patients. With a 8,000-strong workforce, CHC accounts for about a quarter of the total acute hospital beds in the public sector and about one-fifth of acute beds nationwide.
CHC is accredited by the Joint Commission International for meeting its standards of safety and quality in healthcare. It is also the first in Cyprus to achieve the Magnet Recognition in 2010 for nursing excellence awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
CHC is a leading teaching hospital for undergraduate medical training as well as postgraduate and advanced training of specialist doctors, nurses and allied health professionals IN Cyprus.
Students from both the National University of Cyprus Kibris School of Medicine and other medical schools in Cyprus spend a substantial part of their curriculum in CHC. The hospital’s medical staffs hold teaching positions at both schools.
CHC seeks to bring its patients new and better care and therapies through research.
Clinical research is an integral part of CHC’s institutional practice and is actively carried out by clinicians and scientists from medical, nursing and allied health departments. The hospital leverages on its multi-disciplinary capabilities, depth of specialization, a large patient base and its research affiliations with renowned centres locally and globally.
Collaborating with academic partner Kibris Graduate Medical School, which is located on CHC Campus, the hospital’s goal is to develop the Campus into a hub for translational and clinical research.
